The Quick-change Moveable Barrier (QMB) is a precast temporary barrier system designed to allow safe, rapid lane changes even at peak traffic flows. The units can be moved in an unbroken chain by a bespoke vehicle at speeds of up to 10mph, thus allowing rapid change in the work areas. The system comprises a linked “chain” of reactive precast concrete tension barrier units, which can be slightly raised from the road and moved across the carriageway by the transfer vehicle, allowing lane priority changes during road works and traffic tidal flows.
