Filter Bed Walls & Floor Tiles by Milton Precast
Filter Bed Walls & Floor Tiles
The Wall Units
Milton filter bed wall units are designed to meet the requirements of filter beds of any diameter.
The reinforced wall units are provided with anchor bolts and square plate washers which, when cast into an insitu concrete beam around the external face of the units provides cantilevered retaining wall.
The end faces of the wall units are tapered to suit the diameter of the filter bed required. Holes may be formed for installing main pipework and vent pipes.
Wash out troughs may be provided.
Erection
Filter bed walls are positioned quickly by crane to pre-determined positions on the base slab of the filter bed. They are temporarily held in position with adjustable props, which are fixed to the wall unit and the base.
Units are levelled using adjusters beneath each wall unit and when satisfied as to the line, level and verticality, the outer ring beam is cast which provides a physical bond with the anchor reinforcement projecting from the base of the wall units. Once cured, temporary supports can be removed.
Our technical Service Department will provide a suitable tile layout to meet the size of filter bed you require.

Specification
Units manufactured with a blend of ordinary Portland Class 52.5 cement to BS 12 with PFA to produce Sulphate Resisting Concrete to Class 4
Characteristics crushing strength at 28 days – 50N/mm²
Density approximately 2380kg/m³
Jointing
Sealing the joints between Milton filter bed wall units is easily carried out prior to the casting of the insitu concrete ring beam. A flexible EPDM rubber seal is driven into the joint with conventional caulking tools with the seal being taken from the base of the wall units into the area of the insitu ring beam. Following the casting of the ring beam a permanent seal is achieved.
